The new theatre season runs April to October and features King Lear, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Timon of Athens, and a guaranteed laugh-fest on a family day out, The Merry Wives of Windsor. Shakespeares Globe additionally premieres Ché Walker’s The Frontline and Glyn Maxwell’s Liberty.
What’s more, as part of an ongoing series of events running through 2008, on 20-22 February the Shakespeares Globe Exhibition is bolstered by a backstage tour, storytellers hidden behind the Globe Stage who perform Tales for Spring in the Tiring House, a Tent for Peace and resident artists pitched in the exhibition space, the chance to meet Shakespeares Globe actors and listen as they read potted versions of Shakespeare’s plays, the Globe Musicians playing Elizabethan music on some unusual instruments, live costume dressings, and even some feisty stage combat demonstrations.
It all amounts to a perfect family day out, further enhancing the reputation of the family attraction as a unique and memorable ticket into another quite magical world. Further details are at the Shakespeares Globe website.
